Mid Summer Update

[CLICK ON ANY OF THE PHOTOS TO SEE THEM LARGER]

Ok, this first one will be a doosy since I am catching up on about 4 months of stuff.

In early may my Maid of Honor, Leslie came out to visit me. Actually she was visiting her brother and their new baby in Portland, but she drove half way and I drove the other half so we could meet for lunch. Its the first time I've seen her in about 6 years.

Later in May Chris's cousin Tom, from Chicago, came out to visit his mom (who is twin sister to Chris's mom) and dad who live on the Olympic Peninsula. So we went to see him and his wife and their 11 month old treasure named Cadence. You may remember Tom from "the band" He was the drummer in Chris's band and now is a professional touring with Dennis De Young (of Styx) all over the country throughout the year, except in November-January when he travels as Manheim Steamroller's drummer for their season. He is living the musician's dream, I guess and loving it.

Here are the dads and kids: Chris, Alex, Erik, Chris's brother Pete and his 5 month old daughter Alina, Tom and Cadence. This is the first time all the cousins had met. Pretty neat!

Celebrating Chris's birthday the next day at the elder Klimecky's house in Sequim WA

Alex asked to hold Alina over and over and even didn't mind when she fussed a bit.

Alex's school play was Memorial Day weekend. He was one of the elephants in Jungle Book. His mother did all the play sets and boy did she have fun (grin).

May into June I elected myself to pressure wash all of the walkways and driveway on our property. And I know that the lot is only 15,500 sq ft, but there are about 40,000 sq ft of pavement on it! It took about 20 hours of running the machine, getting covered in muck. Very fun!

When school let out, we immediately grabbed the kids and drove across the whole state on a 4 day weekend to Silverwood Theme park in Coeur D'Alene Idaho. Its a beautiful area and the theme park is great for the kids.We get to relax, they play in the water. We have done it the day after school is out for the last 3 years and it is the first real sun I get of the year, usually.

We also enjoy the drive over, stopping several times to enjoy Spokane (which reminds me very much of Minneapolis) and the Columbia Gorge, which defies any camera. It is just amazing to see. Here we are climbing a cliff to view some horse sculptures that are perched on a hill overlooking the gorge.

This is the water park side. We usually spend one day in the waterpark side and one day in the theme park.

Erik is big enough this year to ride all the waterslides - even the big ones!

Of course we like to ride too!

The whole park has a Garfield theme. This is Odie! Since we drive on Thursday, we usually have the park to ourselves on Friday, then it fills up on Saturday and we drive home on Sunday.

The mini rollercoaster. This year all 4 of us went on the BIG coasters though.
Yes, even the fearless 4 year old.

Alex and Chris on the water bumper boats with water squirters! Great fun!
Thank goodness Chris still rides this one with them, I don't handle the spinning so well!

So the kids had the guts to ride the big rides. Alex loved the flume so much he rode it by himself about 5 times. Then we all 4 rode the big wooden rollercoasters! After riding the 105 foot drop at 65 MPH into a dark tunnel, Erik immediately said "Let's do it again right now!!"

About to take a train ride, hugging Garfield

I put this one in...

so you could see the scale on this one!

This little guy can talk. And talk, and talk. It takes a lollipop this size to give mom and dad's ears a break sometimes.

Train ride

Note the chin bump. He rolled out of the hotel bed and split it on the night stand corner at 4 AM the night before. Total trooper cried for 2 minutes, then passed back out.

This is Spokane. Their city park is gorgeous and had a huge rushing waterfall in the middle. And a powerhouse and lots of history. There is still no large city between Spokane and Minneapolis, and the styles of the towns are similar in their building style and size.

That was the end of the mid June trip. More in the next post!
